The soundtrack to The Final Countdown was composed by John Scott, who is known for a large body of classical work, including many soundtracks. More explanation of The Final Countdown soundtrack, as well as a sample Real Audio link, is available on his Final Countdown page. The soundtrack CD [JOS-129] is now available. I bought it awhile back and it sounds great. Thanks to several people for sending me the track list. Here are links to four places that should be selling it:

The Casablanca LP/Tarantula CD: When the movie was released, Casablanca Records released a 38 minute soundtrack on LP (#6302 055). For a while these were selling for about forty dollars on eBay, so but I was able to get one for twenty. Then I had to find a decent turntable, which is a story by itself. Then a few years later, Casablanca came out with a CD through Tarantula Records (a company in West Germany) with the same 38 minutes on CD (Casablanca #842 221-2). Only they did it without the formality of paying anyone for it. This is a perfect example of corporate-level piracy. Believing it to be a legitimate release, I went through a certain amount of trouble to get a copy. But don't worry, when JOS Records comes out with their CD, I promise to buy at least two, so I can have one in the car. Meanwhile my guilt is masked by the pleasure of listening to the extremely good quality of this pirate. By the way, someone was trying to sell CDs they burned from the LP on eBay. Trust me -- you DEFINITELY don't want one. The resolution of the music is so fine only a proper CD can reproduce it. The LP I had just wasn't good enough.

Greystoke the Legend of Tarzan This CD contains the original score (18 tracks) from the film Greystoke, composed by John Scott. It contains 3 titles from Winter People and each one title from the following films: Lionheart, King Kong Lives, A Study In Terror, The Whistle Blower, The Final Countdown, and Search For The Golden Warrior. It runs a total time of 74:05. Label and stock#: MM-CD 14389. I just found out that this is ALSO a pirate.

King King Lives Yet another pirate CD. This one -- also known as "King Kong 2" -- is from Ape Records and has 22 tracks, and includes themes from Greystoke, Shoot to Kill, Phantom of the Sun, and The Final Countdown. You know, I have to admit that before I made this web site I had no idea piracy was such a problem with classical music.
